Artist Talks Glenkeen Garden Residencies. Vol. 4 with STRWÜÜ (Jo Wanneng and Lukas Fütterer)

Beginning this autumn, the Crespo Foundation is inviting the general public to a number of artist talks highlighting the residents of Glenkeen Garden. Situated in Roaringwater Bay, West Cork, Ireland, the Glenkeen Garden Residency has been hosting diverse groups and individual artists biannually since 2021, for periods of up to three months, with ‘ArtNature/NatureArt’ as the running theme. In this series of talks, the artists will present the work and research they cultivated during their residency. The inaugural exhibition in this programme is scheduled to open at the new Crespo House in 2024.

This artist talk features STRWÜÜ (Jo Wanneng and Lukas Fütterer). The artistic duo, graduates of HfG Karlsruhe, work in a variety of fields: from animating a kidnapped plant in stop motion and orchestrating harmonies with giant water lilies through to sound objects, inventive marionette techniques and the deliberate exploration of time and space. Their residency focused on cryptogams (e.g. algae, mosses, lichens) as a basis for investigating tensions and relational dynamics, adding another layer to their provocative artistic exploration.
