MASTERCLASS IN CHAMBER MUSIC
Chamber Music Connects the World
Chamber music is regarded as the ‘supreme discipline’ in the musical world. Yet talented young musicians who want to gain some practical experience have very little contact with the more established professionals they look up to. That’s why the Kronberg Academy set up Chamber Music Connects the World.
For whom?
Exceptional young musicians who play chamber music
Aim
Personal development and musical professionalisation
Duration
Every two years for 10 to 12 days
Location
Kronberg Academy, Kronberg im Taunus
Juniors meet the seniors
Chamber Music Connects the World gives exceptionally talented young musicians the chance to spend ten days rehearsing and playing the violin, viola or cello with international stars such as violinist Gidon Kremer and cellist Steven Isserlis. The young musicians selected by an expert jury acquire a level of professional and personal maturity from the challenges posed by playing together.
The crowning point of the biennial Chamber Music Connects the World programme is the series of concerts for the general public at Kronberg Academy’s chamber music festival. They are the proof that cooperation between aspiring and established chamber musicians provides new impetus for all those involved.
The foundation’s first project
Chamber Music Connects the World was the Crespo Foundation’s first ever project. This is where our foundation has its roots, because it was initially set up in 2000 exclusively to promote chamber music. It is a commitment that stems from the founder Ulrike Crespo’s own passion for classical music. In 2002, the Crespo Foundation initiated the follow-on project Mit Musik – Miteinander so that the younger generation of musical talent could get involved too.
