TUTORING PROGRAMME FOR PUPILS
CHANCENSTIPENDIUM (A SCHOLARSHIP FULL OF OPPORTUNITIES)
School success in Germany is more dependent on a child or teenager’s background than in any other industrial country. The Chancenstipendium educational scholarship makes it possible for children and teenagers from low-income families to improve their performance at school.
For whom?
Children and teenagers aged 6 and above from low-income families
Aim
Children and teenagers should be able to make the most of educational opportunities independently of their background or parental income
Duration
1 year
Location
Throughout Germany
More educational equality in Germany
The Chancenstipendium gives pupils professional tuition and teaching in German as a second language. The condition for receiving support is that their families would not otherwise be able to afford the cost of the lessons.
Every path begins with an opportunity
Over the course of a year the pupils regularly attend a nearby centre offering tuition. Twice a week they receive a 90-minute lesson in small groups and receive support from the tutors at the centre. The intensive mentoring allows the children and teenagers to acquire key social and intercultural skills such as a capacity for teamwork, cooperation and open-mindedness.

Twice as much for a good education!
The Crespo Foundation subscribes to the motto ‘Twice as much for a good education’, and so we take the total amount collected in donations and grants and double that figure. That means twice as many Chancenstipendien scholarships can be awarded. The Chancenstipendium also supplements the support provided by educational sponsorships from private individuals.
PARTNER
The Chancenstipendium project is run by the Chancenstiftung in cooperation with the Crespo Foundation.
