DEGREE PROGRAMME

Further education: Cultural Education in schools

Implementing cultural education successfully in schools requires specially trained staff. Teachers and cultural creators need a qualification covering not only artistic and aesthetic methods but also the processes that allow schools to develop. This is the aim of the two-year continuing education master’s programme Kulturelle Bildung an Schulen.

Masters of inter-professional cooperativeness

Participants in the Kulturelle Bildung an Schulen (KuBiS) master’s programme find out at first hand how educational issues are communicated via artistic processes and aesthetic methods. Moreover, they learn about the necessary preconditions for successful cooperation between various professions and institutions with respect to schools and culture.

The master’s programme thus enables teachers to take on leadership roles in cultural education and enhances the career prospects of cultural creators and cultural communicators. An academic advisory board oversees the development of the degree course.

KuBiS is unique in the German-speaking world. It was established as on-the-job programme at the education faculty of Philipps University Marburg in 2014, and is aimed at those active in cultural education who may or may not already have a degree.

You can find all the information on the course and the application process here (in German).

‘It’s great that innovations can be achieved in the schools themselves thanks to the programme’s inter-professional blend.’

Christian Kammler, managing director of KuBiS
